About FoxFilter

FoxFilter is a personal content filter that helps prevent stumbling onto inappropriate content and block access to specific content and Web sites. FoxFilter also includes password-protected security features to secure settings, access Tools/Add-ons and access configuration settings that YOU MUST ENABLE.

Version 5.5 includes a white list feature which allows parents, library/school lab administrators, etc. to designate a specific list of sites that can be accessed. This overrides filtering and has been requested by several users. FoxFilter 5.5 also includes a new password recovery feature!

Version 6 will provide a new feature which will allow preferences to be shared by multiple computers as well as a multi-user feature with individual filtering and sensitivity preferences!.

Sensitivity Settings (Please Read):

If FoxFilter seems too sensitive, please keep in mind that if "Examine Body Content" is selected in the "Sensitivity Settings", FoxFilter can be VERY sensitive. You may encounter blocking for many non-por*ographic sites, such as Yahoo.com, that contain "fre e" and "se x" somewhere in the body content. You can either choose to not examine the Body content and just examine Meta content, Title and URL, or add URL exceptions as needed.

When installed, you should see "FoxFilter Enabled" in the lower-right corner of the Firefox browser window. To edit preferences, you should see "FoxFilter Preferences" in the Tools menu. If a page is blocked, FoxFilter displays a friendly notification showing the keyword(s) detected and what section of the document the keyword was found in.
